Buyer Tips: Choosing the Right Television for You

An average person will spend nine years of his lifetime watching a television. This being said, a television is a long term investment. You will spend most of your life in front of it, so you would certainly want to choose the right one. If you are planning to buy a new television or having second thoughts about the one you currently have, I urge you to read through as this is what the article is all about.

1. Size Matters
Size Matters
Dont let them tell you otherwise. The first and perhaps, the most important factor in choosing a television, is the size; generally, the bigger the TV, the better. However, you may not want to get a sixty inch TV if you will be placing it in a sixteen square meter room. Consider where you will be placing it before deciding on the size. You can refer to the figure included to help you decide.
2. Resolution is the Solution
Resolution is the Solution
Although there are many that are available, there are two popular HD (high definition) image resolutions that are available in the market. These two are 720p and 1080p. The 1080p is the resolution required to enjoy the so-called Full HD. However, you will only notice the difference between the two in a TV larger than 42 inches. Otherwise, the difference is miniscule and barely noticeable.
3. Picture Quality
Picture Quality
Many TVs in the market boast different kinds of picture and colour enhancing technology. Be wary of this. I strongly suggest disregarding the price and these features when evaluating the quality of the picture as this can, and do, cloud ones judgement. Forget the price and the fancy names, be honest to yourself, place the TVs side by side, and play the same videos with the same format simultaneously. If your eyes are not good enough, ask a friend to go shopping with you.
4. Audio is Also the Way to Go
Televisions are not just about display. Audio quality can have a profound effect on your TV watching experience. However, if you are planning on using surround speakers on your home theatre system, then you can do away with the TVs audio,
5. Connectivity
Connectivity
I have put connectivity as the last consideration as almost all of gadgets and media players are HDMI compatible and so are the televisions for sale. The only option that amounts to substantial consideration in this field is the internet capability. Having this is hardly necessary for televisions, however, if you would like to multitask using your television, then this may be for you. However, Internet TVs or Smart TVs can significantly inflate the price of a television compared to its basic counterpart.
